It was an exchange
of art and
energy for Swapsity members Tori and SherDoc. The pair
met at a
church to swap a reflexology super session from SherDoc
for one of
Tori’s painting, which SherDoc plans to give to
his best
friend as a housewarming gift. It was a successful
exchange for
both—and one that wouldn’t have been
possible without
barter.
“I’m guessing a masterpiece like that would
have cost
at least $450 if hung in a gallery, but I got it for
free,”
says SherDoc of Tori’s painting.
She also walked away from the experience, her very first Swapsity trade, completely satisfied.
“I truly don’t think you can put a price on a wonderful energetic exchange with a beautiful soul,” says Tori of the energy treatment she received.
Tori loves the simplicity of swapping and enjoys sharing with others, having traded her artwork with friends in the past. She is looking forward to swapping more artwork in the future, reminding people that bartering is an affordable way to get some fine art for your home. “I love having an opportunity to give artwork to people who normally don't go to galleries and shows to get their masterpieces,” she says.
Trading for Tori’s artwork wasn’t the only successful swap SherDoc, an aspiring yogi, made that day. He also swapped a private yoga session for a yoga book from India on positive health and yogic knowledge. A few days later, he found another swap partner and is trading massage therapy skills for web site creation. SherDoc’s still on the lookout for more swaps. He’s experienced in many ancient healing systems and is offering lessons in the didgeridoo, Tibetan Throat Singing and a wide range of treatments, including magical musical massages and chakra-balancing guided visualization.
A veteran barterer
passionate
about supporting a resource-based economy, SherDoc
advises other
members to just start swapping! Tori suggests keeping
an open-mind
toward new opportunities and learning new skills. Also,
offer
potential swap partners something outside of his or her
specific
WishList. “You just never know,” she
says.
Reach out to Tori and SherDoc and you could be the next
to have an
amazing swap experience!
