The creative mind
behind
Swapsity’s Swaptopus has turned her eco-friendly
talents for
crafting custom-made critters into swap success. Using
recycled
materials, Lisa made the Movie Music Eco-Swap mascot,
which
debuted at the Live Green Toronto Festival and was
a huge hit
with visitors of all ages. She has also turned other
cuddly
creatures into some amazing trades.
Putting her passion for sewing to work, Lisa carved out
a niche for
herself by repurposing old clothing, fabric scraps and
unwanted
stuffed animals into new, original stuffed animals,
purses and
bags, and dog accessories. Aside from trading with
Swapsity for the
Swaptopus, she’s traded a Mrs. Happy Hippo for a
book, coat
and scarf, swapped a Mr. Whale for a pan of yummy
brownies, and got
a cute starfish crystal necklace in exchange for a Mr.
Teddy
Bear.
With four Swapsity swaps behind her, Lisa is no
stranger to swap
success and is thrilled to see others benefit from
something she
loves to do.
“I love being able to still feel like I can
provide something
to people even though I can't work and don't have much
money,” she says. “I also enjoying seeing
the joy that
simple stuffed animals can bring to a person or
child.”
For swappers looking to boost their barter options,
Lisa encourages
them to do as much as they can to get noticed, take
every swap
opportunity that comes their way and expect the
unexpected.
She’s ready to craft her next creature and is
open to any
interesting swaps, especially a new tattoo or body
jewellery. Check
out Lisa's eco-friendly critters on Swapsity or Facebook and make her a swap
offer!
