Meet Bella and Anna, two artists who recently forged a
green and
frugal relationship on Swapsity. Bella had some art
supplies taking
up space in her home and was looking to give them away
to a
creative soul who could put them to good use. She
posted them on
Swapsity. Giving her excess things away to someone who
needed them
just felt right to Bella. "I love to see things go to
good use and
be in the hands of someone who will enjoy them," she
says. "It's so
much better for the environment, and it frees up space
in the home,
which is equally great." The opportunity to get
something in return
was a great incentive too!
Needing a haircut, she searched Swapsity and soon
enough got in
touch with Anna, a talented artist who loves cutting
and styling
hair. It didn't take long for the two to make a trade.
Anna cut
Bella's hair and Bella brought her a bunch of craft
supplies in
return. Anna thinks it's great to use her talent as
currency to
acquire art supplies or those fun extra things that she
couldn't
otherwise afford on a discretionary income of an
artist. Bella is
happy with the result and wants to continue bartering
for green
bath and body products, spa and massage services or a
leather coat
while Anna would love to swap her creative skills for a
cottage
vacation, carpentry lessons or home brewing equipment.
We hope that
it's only the first of many swaps for both Bella and
Anna.

What a beautiful tale. I love the whole concept of bartering and sharing consciously and lovingly, and it reminds me very strongly of Mark Boyle's Freeconomy (worth checking out if anyone's interested.) Rock on Bella, Anna, and SwapSity.
