I practice mainly criminal law, defending clients in all matters. I also do academic offenses, appeals, and related issues. I teach business law to commerce and management students at the University of Toronto, so I'm certainly capable of handling matters in this area also. For this site, I'm willing to dabble outside my usual areas of practice if the issues are simple. I would never take on complex matters outside my usual areas as it simply isn't responsible. If I take on a client for any reason, in exchange for barter or anything else, the solicitor-client relationship is the same. It's a very serious responsibility, and I take it as such.
Availability | My serives stay available unless and until I'm spending too much time swapping rather than earning a living. |

Transaction Terms | I am willing to work occasionally for barter, if only because it's good karma and I meet interesting people this way. My usual fees start at $150/hour even when I'm quoting reduced rates, but I don't necessarily need that here and I'm able to be somewhat flexible. Please note, however, that if you really do need a lawyer it's a serious relationship on both sides. I can be flexible in what I charge but not in the formality of the relationship. If I agree to represent you in some matter, be aware that I take it as seriously as I would in any other case - even if you're compensating me in baked goods. |
