October 30 marked the last Pedestrian Sunday of the year. With vehicles off the roads and live music playing, the sunny afternoon brought crowds of local people—a few in costume—out to embrace the culture and diversity that is Kensington Market. They perused the neighbourhood's handcrafted art and made their way over to Swapsity's Halloween-themed Movie Music Eco-Swap, alongside zombies, witches and even Hello Kitty.

The Movie Music Eco-Swap is proving to be a high-energy community event with the Swap Zone now a beloved part of Kensington Market’s Pedestrian Sunday. Our tents have provided the community with an opportunity to swap their pre-loved music and movies—and October 30 was no different!

People came to recycle their media items, find treasures, save money, and de-clutter in an eco-friendly way. Swappers took their time looking over the vast collection of media items, debating which to take home. Even those who hadn’t planned on visiting the Swap Zone were drawn in, slowing their pace when the saw Swapsity ahead and coming to a halt right in front of our tents. Satisfied swappers walked away saying what a great idea the event was.

To date, Swapsity Movie Music Eco-Swaps have helped Torontonians recycle more than 4,051 media items with 2,781 swapped.&nbs p;Collectively our swappers have saved $22,349. The leftover media items will be taken to tour next Movie Music Eco-Swap, which is taking place November 11 at the University of Toronto.
